Bridesmaid on hand

My brother is getting married in October so I am on Bridesmaid duty. I kicked it into full force today by offering my Photoshop skills in helping design table place settings, name cards and general wedding goodness.

Really impressed with myself with the final outcomes though printers and us didn't seem to want to mix tonight. I think we managed to make our way through 20 or something trees trying to get the right sizing but it all came good in the end

(picture to be added)

Working way into the night whilst both H2B's sat and played on the X Box we managed to tick a lot of the boxes for SIL's wedding to do list.

Though it can be easier, quicker and less stress to go and buy the things I will never believe they are better than the hand made touch. Our final creations are fantastic and will really make an impact as well as being totally different to what anyone else has. Except maybe each other as I am sure to be stealing some of the ideas for our own wedding.

To hair or not to hair

Do I hire a hairdresser or not?

Have been looking at getting a mobile hairdresser to come to the venue and style my hair and possibly also do make up and its a nightmare. One they are so expensive. I knew they would be but for someone who doesn't often go to the hairdressers (based on I don't like the uncomfortable conversation as well as i'm too nice to say anything if i don't like it) I begrudge paying hundreds of pounds to get someone to spend less than an hour messing with my hair.

This is all part of the day though as I keep being told by the H2B but still I am a budget girl so this was tonight's mission. This is were facebook comes in very handy. By putting a shout out as to advice and contacts of a local hairdresser one of my guests +1 messaged me to inform me she was on her level 3 of hairdressing and she could help me out. Extensions, trials, trims she would do it all. Winning!

I've found my style already - the beautiful Miss Underwood is my inspiration. Though seeing it in blonde does make me want to take the bleach bottle to my hair again

The Wedding Party

The wedding party - who to pick and include in our special day

Or in my words, who can I make my skivvys leading up to the big day to help me do all the little wedding jobs I don't want to do.

Our first picks were best man and maid of honour. Iain's was easy. He'd already decided that before even proposing. Jason. Jason and Iain have been friends since primary school so it was a given that he would be the man for the job. Plus Jason likes to travel so he was the best chance of getting a stagg doo abroad.

Mine was a little more unusual. I don't have many close girlfriends, my best friend being the other man in my life Mr Callum S. We have been friends for what will be a decde next year. So he was my choice. So I now have my own best man or man of honour as we are going with

For the rest of the wedding party Iain has a lot of other close friends so Baz and Marc were to be groomsmen taking the

list to 4. I had first decided not to have any bridesmaids as like I said not big on the girlfriend front but then someone I worked with became one of my best friends. Someone who I had found that was as crazy as me, busted some killer dance moves and who also had wedding fever. Claire. My other bridesmaid is my Sister in Law to be. Since agreeing to put up with my brother it seemed right that she was included as well as being a great person and who would bring some sanity to the group.

That made 6. The final member is my big bro Paulio. He is the man in charge for the day taking on the Usher role (and maybe to do a reading, though not yet decided)

How it all started

So I'll possibly admit I may have had a few wedding ideas pre- proposal but most people do right. Only natural for a gal to think of what invites, STD's, favours etc right.............right?

So the important thing is how I finally got permission to start officially planning.

THE PROPOSAL

12th July - 'It's our anniversary today', 'You know it's our anniversary right' 'We've been together 4 years today'

I'd pretty much got the gist that it was definitely our anniversary on the 12th July as Iain kept reminded me the morning of his proposal. As a joint anniversary/ birthday treat we were heading off to Conwy, Wales were we had had one of our first dates during our 'let's just drive anywhere' trips on our days off.

Landing in Conwy we headed for Conwy castle. We have a major thing about castles - but that's another story. So joining the other tourists we explored all the turrets and hidey holes around the castle. As we head up one tower that overlooked the sea where all the boats had moored and people were wandering along the harbor front, Iain seemed to be getting a little antsy as people kept coming up and down the stairs to the top disturbing our peaceful view. I suggested going to the next one but he was adament 'no we'll stay here a little longer, I can get some great shots from here' He mentioned fiddling with his camera.

Finally he gave up and we headed for the next tower. This was a lot quieter with less disturbances. As I looked out onto the grounds of the tower Iain stood behind me slipping his arms round his waist. 'You know I love you and always will, so I have one question' As I looked down there in front of me he opened the little black box containing my engagement ring. Obvious immediate reaction for me was to start crying and I walked away (that sounds really bad) but it was so he didn't see my ugly crying face. He slipped the ring on my finger 'Is that a yes?' and I nodded.

And we were engaged! Conwy castle - not just a place for protecting yourself from the bad guys.

And as for the ring

I'm trying this again

Ok so here we go again. I'm gonna try harder this time. More than anything else I just want somewere to put all my wedding stuff. Whether it's to dispaly all the amazing wedding ideas I see on line and create or just to vent when things aren't going right or come closer to the time I start to panic!!!

It also allows me to 'talk' to people rather the H2B who can sometime just nod and smile when I mention wedding stuff.

So here goes. Wish me luck

And just to get us started

This made me laugh today

New start

So all previous posts have been deleted.

I am the laziest blogger ever and need to get back into doing something productive. I realise my life isn't super exciting but it's something to do I guess and makes me feel like I will have done something.

I may start following the format of some of my favourite bloggers and have different things on different days and showcase all the amazing stuff that I find online.

With that in mind here are my favourite weddingy things I am liking at the moment as wedding planning seems to be at the forefront of my mind. I know I am super early in getting stuff done but I like to be organised and am aiming for the 6 months before getting wed to be stress free.

I guess this blog will become a combination of weddingy stuff, crafting stuff and photography stuff. I wish I could have a job that combined all three - that would be amazing.

Anywho to the wedding favourites

Found here - I have an obsession with buttons and make most of my crafts from felt so this would be my ideal bouquet if I were to have one. I think I've decided against having one as I tried it out with some fake flowers (yeah I was there in front of the mirror holding flowers - weird I know) but anywho just felt alkward for me. I was gripping them really tight and just felt unnatural, so I think we are going against that.

Cake wise, there are some fantastic creations and I love the idea of a quirky one but as I don't like cake this has been put into Iain's column to organise. I don't see anything wrong with this one - I mean he proposed in a castle right

I have seen so many cute save the date and wedding invitations it has taken me a while to come up with something. Still love these ideas though

I found a lot of New York themed invites which were great and gave me a lot of ideas for my own designs

There are so many cute things that I have seen that I want to incorporate into the wedding but it's whether the H2B allows them :D

So that will be all for now I think. Tomorrow I will showcase the great things that Etsy has to offer.
